I recently had the opportunity to spend some time at the range with the prototype Alpine Riflecraft Zenith rifle chambered in 7mm-08. This is a 2-lug bolt, controlled round feed, short action, ultralight rifle designed for the hunter that values ounces saved and a rifle that performs. Light rifles can be difficult to shoot accurately. Not so with this one. Shooting factory Hornady 150gr ELD-X ammunition I easily fired three shot groups between 1/2” and 5/8” at 100 yards. The scope was not set for my eye relief and the trigger was not set as light as I would prefer but the rifle was easy to control due to the excellent 2 port muzzle brake. The action fed and ejected flawlessly. Fit and finish was superb. I would like the opportunity to stretch it out to it’s potential. Designed for the serious backcountry hunter I am anxious to try the production model.
